My replica
Veronika Nadurak, 11.º C | 16-02-2024
As I opened the door and faced the exact replica of myself, an uncanny chill ran down my spine, freezing me in place. Strangely enough, despite coming from a distinct world, my twin seemed just as startled. Quickly, we formed an unexpected bond, sharing weirdly similar experiences and thoughts.
However, things took a big turn when I realised that my twin was subtly replacing me, blending progressively into my life.
Faced with this problem, I started developing hatred towards my replica, wanting it to disappear and make my life normal again. Time was passing by, and the voices in my head were getting louder and louder. So, I made up a plan, which was to kill my copy. With an unclear mind, I tried to get rid of it in many ways. I didn’t realise until later I was only causing pain to myself.
It turns out my clone wasn’t just a copy; it was a part of my mind, a part of me. Surrounded by endless thoughts, I didn’t want to accept my other self, my bad side but I had to.
I stepped out the door, carrying this valuable lesson with me. This weird encounter with my twin turned into a long journey of accepting who I really am. Just who knew it would be that way? I guess life is, in fact, full of surprises.
The story of my clone

As I opened the door and faced the exact replica of myself, I dropped my coffee in shock and closed the office door quickly. With the noise, my stepfather came to see if everything was ok, but he was a little apprehensive because, as I told him, I hit against the wall next to his office door, because I was very tired that week. From then on, I started to suspect that something was wrong with him, and I was going to find out what it was.
My mom married a millionaire a few years after my father’s death. He is a very weird and reserved man, and he clearly has a secret. So when he was on a business trip I broke into his office, apparently there was nothing strange, so I started going through all the books to see if I could find anything, and that’s when I found a key with a keychain and a note that said “To protect the C. Project while I’m away.” What kind of project was he talking about? What could be so dangerous to need to be protected? What does “C” mean? Well, my questions were answered when I found a lock on one of the shelves of the bookcase. As soon as I put the key in the lock, the bookcase turned into a futuristic door, I went through that door and went down the stairs, that’s when I ended up in a laboratory. There were a few cabinets of DNA samples and other stuff. I walked a bit more and I found a kind of a warehouse which had bodies inside capsules, but one was missing, there were also names on the capsules, and the missing one had written “Catherine Woldorf”, which is my name. I started being more worried, because I knew I wasn’t alone anymore, because my clone was there, but hidden in another room, so I immediately called the police.
The agents were quick to arrive, they deactivated the capsules that kept the clones “alive”, and the clones ended up “dying”. My clone ran away before the police got into the house, she probably changed her name and maybe her appearance, they couldn’t find her. When my stepfather got home, he was arrested by the police for making part of a cloning project which is illegal. My mom didn’t know anything about it, and she divorced him and took half of the assets. Now, we live in a different house with no secrets between us (at least I hope so).
